Digestive system is like a fine instrument. If you mistreat your body it will remind you of it in the most inappropriate time. So learn to respect and nourish your inside! Pay attention to the symptoms and the signals your body is sending you.

What is heartburn?

It is chest or abdominal discomfort that is triggered after food or drink consumption.

It can start at the most inappropriate time. It can interrupt your life, sleep and your concentration. Don't you just hate it?Most people have experienced this digestion problem, but not many reached out for a natural remedy.

Now that you know the symptoms of heartburn, we go to

Heartburn Treatments:

There is more concern in traditional medicine with persistent burning because it might be what they call an acid reflux disease or GERD. Truly diagnosed GERD (gastro esophageal reflux disease) requires conventional medication treatment and follow ups with a physician. The problem is that many patients get misdiagnosed with it. True GERD is a serious condition that needs to be diagnosed with certain tests and labs, etc.

Occasional symptom is not a serious condition. A lot of patients with this symptom will see a doctor hoping for relief. Most of the time, they will come out of the office with a prescription for Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix, etc. because the doctors want to give patients what they want. At this point most patients don't want natural remedies for heartburn. They want a prescription in their hand to solve their problem. But why? Why are we so preconditioned to ask for a prescription? Many of my patients tell me because its easier to just pop a pill.....

These prescriptions are usually for proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) or H-2 blockers. PPIs are indicated for GERD, not occasional heartbutn. Most of the patients getting these medications do not have GERD. Most of the Crohn's disease patients getting PPIs do not have GERD either.

Natural Remedies For Heartburn: What does heartburn feel like?

Well, it hurts. And it burns. Right? Oh, yeah...

Heartburn is not to be confused with indigestion. These are two different conditions. The difference between the two is the symptoms. Indigestion is usually accompanied by the feeling of fullness and epigastric pain (between the navel and the lower part of the chest bone). Epigastric pain is often referred as indigestipn pain. Indigestipn pain doesn't have a strong burning component.

Whereas, heartburn symptoms are usually accompanied by burning pain radiating towards the neck area (acids flow into esophagus area). In some cases patients can have both heartburn and indigestion.

Natural Remedies For Heartburn

Heartburn causes:

This digestive disorder hits when the stomach acid flows into your esophagus. “The flames” are very painful and can be confused for heart attack pains. Crohn's disease patients are prone to getting this digestive disorder, just like anyone else with digestive disorders.

It is commonly believed to be known as a problem with too much acid(HCL-hydrochloric acid). Very often it is the complete opposite. Once the stomach senses food, it produces gastrin. Gastrin is responsible for secretion of HCL and for contraction of muscles in the stomach to move food. The functions of HCL include converting proteins to certain enzymes for proper digestion as well as preventing bacterial or fungal overgrowth in the small intestine and more. A lot of times lack of acid causes heartburn.

And the best thing to do is to start with natural remedies for heartburn. And the goal of the natural remedies for heartburn is to keep the system alkaline not acidic. Alkaline organism will prevent any disease.
