Reply to first question:

Sesame oil is a great oil to use for anyone with digestive disorders including GERD patients.

It's great to use organic, unrefined sesame oil for salads or raw foods. Organic, refined sesame oil would be for cooking.

But, please remember that you need a variety of good oils in your diet to heal your gut and replenish it with different nutrients. Use coconut oil, sesame oil, walnut oil, olive oil and even grapeseed oil on differnt days.

Reply to second question:

It sure makes sense to me that a patient could get "bulging" in the areas of the stomach or other parts of the body. That would be fat deposits. The reason could be simple: when the person is under chronic sress, in this case stress from severe GERD, their cortisol levels are abnormal. When that happens, fat starts depositing in the most undesirable places.
