What do I do in the meantime?

by Patti
(Winnipeg)

I am waiting to get an appointment with a gastroenterologist for my symptoms which are as follows:

-Abdominal pain intermittently, feels like menstrual cramps but in different areas, then
sometimes feels like something's "clicking"

-Pain increases before I need to have a BM

-Pain in abdomen during BM and (I know this sounds ridiculous) abdomen sounds like 2 ducks fighting lol

-The increased pain & BM are happening 1.5-2.5hrs after each oral intake

-I've had diarrhea since mid-January

-I'm feeling nausea when I can feel the BM coming on with a flushed feeling in my face

-Increased gas

-Petechiae or something similar keeps appearing on my lower shins to tips of feet, small red spots that stay red after pressure instead of turning white. They show up with one or more swollen, red lumps, usually on my ankles, causing the joints to hurt.

-I'm not having muscle soreness but I'm feeling stiffness in wrists, fingers, elbows, knees and back

I haven't been able to figure out any triggers. At first I thought it was because my eating habits have been less than healthy lately so I immediately started to eat extremely healthily, which hasn't helped.

My GP suggested I take immodium and when I did, yeah, it got rid of diarrhea but it hardened it TOO much after just one dose and had pain because of that instead so I just stopped taking it. No parasites in my stool test, I'm waiting for results for infection test in stool, blood test came back negative for celiac disease.

IBD runs in my family. My grandmother has Ulcerative Colitis and has a colestomy bag. My sister has Crohn's Disease and is currently on Humira after an unsuccessful Remicade treatment. My father has symptoms but refuses to see a Dr because he's in denial so I guess we can't count him.

I'm just waiting to get in for the gastroenterologist, but to any of you does this sound like your symptoms? I'm just trying to figure out what I can do in the meantime to help my symptoms without hindering a diagnostic process.

Thanks for your help!!

How do I know if my hemorrhoids are improving?

by Gary
(Rockford, IL USA)

I am following my doctors orders for hemorrhoids/fissure.

I am using a stool softener, metamucil, soaking in the tub, etc, religously.

I have periods of a day or two minmum or almost nodiscomfort and then the next day or two are terrible.

How do I know when I am getting better/

Does treating them with vinegar apple cider really work?

Thanks. I am 64 years old.

Hello, I have a question about radiation scare now. Everyone is talking about possibility of radiation around us and how it could affect us.

I would like to know if there's an iodine product that you would use.

Thank you in advance.

My son

by Marina
(Los Gatos, CA, USA)

My son who has Chron's disease is on a very restrictive diet which has been working great.

He is now weaning off Entecort. He just went from 2 to 1 Entecort on Friday and is staring to have some mild stomach pain where his Chron's inflammation is.

I'm assuming that you may have had the same experience when weaning off drugs. My question: Did you or have you heard of anyone experiencing mild pain when weaning off the drugs? And did it in your experience go away or turn into a flare?

Thanks
