Chron's Biopsy

Is it possible to have Chron's when the biopsy is negative? I have inflammation of my ileum and my doctor said based on a colonoscopy that this is Chron's but the biopsy of the area came back negative for Chron's. What does this mean?

Thank you so much for your question.

Yes, it's possible to have negative biopsy. Sometimes when the biopsy would be repeated later, maybe even next month it could show up positive. And then, again it could be negative.

Some Crohns patients shared with me that their biopsy results were very tricky. During pain and inflammation they showed up negative and during remission they had many white cell aggregation.
