What Is The Accutane Crohns Disease Connection?

Accutane Crohns disease.

Is there a Accutane Crohns association? Considering taking Accutane (isotretinoin)?

Do you know symptoms of Crohns disease?

Does taking Accutane really cause Crohns disease?

This Accutane Crohns disease issue was all over the current medical news.

Many scientific studies suggested that Accutane (generically called isotretinoin) is possibly one of the causes of Inflammatory Bowel Disorders (IBD), including Crohns disease (CD) and Ulcerative colitis (UC).

Did you know that probiotics improve skin for most patients suffering from acne?

Did you know that probiotics are very beneficial for patients with Crohn's disease?

Putting these "two and two" together, we realize that probiotics are must-haves for patients with Crohn's disease and acne.

Finding a great probiotic is a challenge, but I had really great results with my clients and myself using these two probiotics combination: Floramyces at bedtime and Probiotics Supreme in the morning, on empty stomach.

Accutane (isotretinoin) is used to treat severe nodular(cystic) acne.

It is used a last resort when all other acne treatments failed.

Accutane is a derivative of vitamin A.

For some of my clients, higher doses of vitamin A worked very well for acne and they didn't even need to get Accutane prescription.

But make sure you don't go over the maximum recommended dose of vitamin A. There are potential dangers with overdosing vitamin A.

You wouldn't expect a derivative of a natural vitamin to be very dangerous? Right?

Actually...

Accutane is a very potent medication. It improves the skin by reducing the amount of oil released by oil glands.

It also aids the skin to renew itself more quickly.

This medication has many side effects, like mood disturbances, osteoporosis, etc.

This drug causes severe, life-threatening birth defects if a pregnant woman takes it.

NEVER use it if you are pregnant or even if you think there’s a slim chance of you being pregnant.

To receive an Accutane prescription you would need to see your doctor and register with iPLEDGE program. That program monitors pregnancy tests and frequency of prescribed Accutane rxs.

You would need to tell your doctor if you take any supplemental vitamins and should stop taking any of them that contain vitamin A.

There was a multi-million dollar trial that ruled Accutane as being a probable cause of Crohn's disease.
If you don't eat mostly raw, 100% organic diet that is right for your nutritional type, you may have many nutritional gaps.

Taking this amazing multivitamin should be another must for people with skin problems.

Accutane Crohns Disease:

The most current medical news about Accutane and Crohns disease and Accutane IBD connection: the FDA has required Hoffman-La Roche to change the Accutane label and include a warning.

That warning states “Accutane has been associated with inflammatory bowel disease (including regional ileitis) in patients without a prior history of intestinal disorders".

So it would not apply to patients that were previously diagnosed with Crohn's disease.

"In some instances, symptoms have been reported to persist after Accutane treatment has been stopped".

"Patients experiencing abdominal pain, rectal bleeding or severe diarrhea should discontinue Accutane immediately.” And you should contact your doctor.

All you patients on Accutane or other brands of isotretinoin consider yourselves warned!

The Accutane Crohns disease connection issue is probably more serious than it seems.

The reason for that is because only one to five percent of patients report their side effects or unusual symptoms to their doctor or to the FDA.

Many people experiencing these gastrointestinal symptoms on Accutane probabaly go unreported.

I would assume that the Accutane Crohns disease issue should be a concern for any dermatologist.

I hope that the dermatologist will ask you many questions before prescribing Accutane.

Accutane Crohns Disease:

Many Crohns disease patients have skin problems to begin with.

There was a time when I strongly considered Accutane myself. But the thought that this medicine could potentailly precipitate Crohns disease just scared me too much.

Since I already have Crohns disease, Accutane could possibly make it worse.

But if you never been diagnosed with Crohns or other IBD keep in mind that this is a real concern. Accutane Crohns Disease:

But patients would need to take up a more proactive role when they recieve any acne therapy.

Patients should always research what products they use and if it's safe for them.

The key here would be to start from more natural way before going to get treated with a very potent drug.

First consider detoxifying and cleansing you body from the inside, changing your diet and adding stress-reducing activities! Accutane Crohns Disease:

It's very difficult to maintain healthy skin with chronic inflammatory condition like Crohn's disease.

Believe me, I know this. Flare ups often show on your face or body as acne.

5 Great Acne Tips:

  1. Remember, acne starts from the inside. Try body and colon cleanses. Nothing too harsh. Just gentle body, liver or colon cleanse once or twice a year. Don't over do it.
  2. Take probiotics.

Probiotics may balance out the good and the bad bacteria.

  3. Do not overdry your skin. Dry and irritated skin can cause more break outs. Use washes and toners for sensitive skin because most acne washes are too harsh and contain drying and peeling acids.
  4. Drink lots of water (filtered or spring).
  5. Get enough sleep and exercise routinely.

I wish you to feel great!
