Flu time. Don’t let it happen to you.
I know that Swine Flu (H1N1) makes many people very scared. So being proactive is what you have to do.
I know that there are many experts giving advices about preventative measures for the Flu. I agree with some of them but not with all.
First thing, “Wash your hands”. Sure, you need to keep germs away. Warm water, soap and at least 30 seconds of washing. I don’t really recommend antibacterial soaps, unless there is a specific need for them.
Second, “Don’t touch your face”. Sure, not with your bare hands at least. You can buy facial tissues that have lotion with antiviral activity.
Next, “Gargle with salt and warm water or Listerine”. Yes and no. Warm water with one teaspoonful of sea salt is a great idea for gargling (I’ve mentioned that numerous times in my Blog, Website and other posts). This gargling prevents proliferation of the virus. Any virus, including H1N1 virus takes about 2 to 3 days to proliferate inside your nasal cavity and throat. This simple gargling can REALLY prevent viral and bacterial infections. But I would have to say no to Listerine for this purpose. Using Listerine can cause Candida overgrowth because it’s so effective killing bad and good bacteria in the mouth. I would also recommend using the same gargle water to rinse your nose. Try “drinking” with your nose and spitting out from your mouth. Even better if you have a NetiPot at home. This is so effective in preventing bacterial and viral infections.
Last but not least, get those immune modulators during this time. Vitamin C in Ester C form, Zinc, Immune 26, Colostrum are all great to improve your immune system. Drink many warm teas like Rosehip tea that is loaded with vitamin C. Remember, Echinacea is only to be used for up to 10 days.
Also, don't forget about the magic of onions and garlic during the cold and flu time.
I wish you all the best,
